Senior Low Voltage Technician (Level 3 – Security, Voice, and Data)

Location: Waco, TX | Type: Full-Time | Reports to: Director of Operations

Compensation : $23–$30/hour

Position Overview

The Senior Low Voltage Technician (Level 3) is a high-level field technician role responsible for leading installations and executing complex security and telecom system deployments.

This is NOT an IT or cybersecurity position.

This is a hands-on role focused on physical installation, system integration, and jobsite leadership.

You will take ownership of jobsite execution, ensure all work meets company standards, and mentor junior technicians.

Roles and Responsibilities

Advanced Installation & Integration

Lead installation of:

Access control systems (Brivo / Mercury-based)

Video surveillance systems

Alarm systems

VoIP systems and network infrastructure

Install and configure:

Electric strikes, maglocks, and electrified hardware

Power supplies and fire alarm interfaces

Control panels and head-end systems

System Setup & Commissioning

Terminate and configure all field devices (readers, REX, DPS, locks, alarm devices)

Program and validate systems (alarm zones, users, communications)

Perform full system testing and turnover

Standards & Quality Control

Ensure all installations meet company standards (non-negotiable baseline)

Maintain:

Clean cable management and routing

Proper labeling and documentation

Professional enclosure layout and wiring

Identify and correct issues before project completion

Leadership & Jobsite Execution

Lead job sites and coordinate with PMs and scheduling

Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 technicians

Communicate risks, delays, and needs proactively

Ensure projects are completed on time and to scope

Troubleshooting & Service

Diagnose and resolve issues across:

Access control systems

Surveillance systems

Alarm systems

VoIP and network systems

Utilize meters and diagnostic tools effectively

Documentation & Communication

Maintain detailed service notes in ConnectWise

Track time, materials, and external support involvement

Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams

Experience & Qualifications

Required :

3+ years of experience in low-voltage, security, or telecom field work

Strong experience with access control, cameras, and alarm systems

Experience with VoIP systems and basic networking

Ability to lead jobs independently

Strong troubleshooting skills

Valid driver’s license

Reliable transportation to and from the office and job sites

Preferred :

Experience with Brivo, Eagle Eye Networks, or Honeywell systems

Prior leadership or foreman experience
