Job Description

Job Description: Mobile Systems Developer (Contract-to-Hire)

The Role

As a Mobile Systems Developer , you are the engine under the hood of our app experience. While our UX Engineer focuses on the "Pixel-Perfect" interface, you are responsible for the technical architecture, native performance, and hardware integrations that make our travel companion reliable in the real world. You will partner with our Tech Lead to build a robust, offline-capable mobile foundation that bridges our AI backend with the physical capabilities of iOS and Android devices.

About the company

We are building an intelligent ultra personalized travel companion app powered by advanced AI, designed to make every journey feel more intuitive, personalized, and truly rewarding. We're creating this for people just like us, those for whom travel isn't just a hobby or occasional escape, but a core part of who we are. It's in our DNA, the open road calls, the itch to explore new places runs deep, and the best stories come from real miles logged, unexpected detours, and moments that only happen when you're out there living it.

We want teammates who live that lifestyle, who draw from their own adventures to infuse the app with an authentic vibe and intuition that resonates with fellow travelers. If road trips, spontaneous getaways, discovering hidden gems, or turning long drives into meaningful experiences are woven into your life, not just something you read about, you'll bring the empathy, insight, and passion that turns good features into something users feel was built exactly for them. This role is about building for people like you.

Strategic Influence

  • Native Bridge Architecture: Lead the implementation of Capacitor/Ionic or React Native to ensure seamless access to native device features (GPS, Camera, File System).

  • Reliability Engineering: Drive the "ruggedness" of the Alpha launch by implementing sophisticated offline caching, background location tracking, and state persistence.

  • Infrastructure Optimization: Architect the data flow between our AI backend and the client, ensuring low-latency responses and efficient handling of large travel datasets.

Job Responsibilities

  • Hybrid-to-Native Integration: Build and maintain the native bridge layers, ensuring push notifications, geolocation, and biometrics work flawlessly across both platforms.

  • Data Synchronization: Collaborate with the Backend Lead to implement REST/GraphQL integrations and manage complex local storage (SQLite/Preferences) for offline itinerary access.

  • Performance Auditing: Monitor and optimize memory usage, startup times, and battery consumption to ensure the app meets "road-ready" standards.

  • DevOps & Deployment: Oversee the mobile CI/CD pipeline, managing App Store Connect and Google Play Console deployments for Alpha and Beta cohorts.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in mobile-first development, specifically with Capacitor/Ionic, React Native, or Flutter .

  • Technical Mastery: * Deep proficiency in TypeScript and mobile design patterns.

    • Hands-on experience with Native APIs (CoreLocation, PushKit, etc.) and writing custom native wrappers if needed.

    • Strong understanding of State Management (Redux, Zustand, or TanStack Query) in a mobile context.

  • The "Traveler" Mindset: A focus on "defensive programming"—anticipating edge cases like poor connectivity, low battery, and cross-time-zone synchronization.

Communication: Ability to work as the "technical anchor" for the UX Engineer, providing them with the stable hooks and APIs they need to build high-fidelity interfaces.
